FIRE RATED

Core: ASTM D1929

Cloth: CA TB 117

LC Solar Blockers have a white reflective surface that reflects most of the solar radiation away. The small amount of solar radiation that is absorbed, is insulated by a 1/2" polystyrene insulator, under the reflector surface. Therefore, almost all of the heat from radiation is blocked by these panels

For housing applications, the attic temerature difference and reduction in AC power usage is phenomenal.

Stop the radiation heat, before it get's in
LC Solar Blockers
LC Solar Blockers are designed to block solar radiation, and thus dramatically reduces heat buildup. Typically installed on rooftops, they lowers attic temperatures by around 30° f
If you need to save money on your air conditioning bills, LC Solar Blockers is a great solution. Greatly reduce your cooling bill each month by installing these solar blocker panels.
Technical explanation:
When it's 105° f in the shade, The heat warms the house structure. Some of the heat comes from the convection of the outside air, but most of it is from solar radiation. Radiation from the sun causes a typical asphalt roof to hover around 180° f.. This will usually heat your attic to 135° or so. This heat will travel by conduction throughout your entire house. Heat reaching the interior of a well insulated house is typically 64,000+ btu's per hour. A typical 2 ton rated AC unit can only remove 24,000 btu's per hour. This heat will cause your air conditioner to run constantly, while it battles to remove this incoming heat. Your AC unit will also cycle all night, because of the stored heat in the building structure. LC Solar Blockers stop the radiation heat, buildup on the roof. After installation (very easy), your roof tile temperature should drop to around 90° to 100° f, (60° to 80° reduction) and the attic temperature should be in the mid 80°s'. This makes a dramatic difference to your AC unit. It will run much less, thus greatly reducing the power usage, and the associated cost.

Our solution is simple. If we don't let the heat in, then we don't have to pay to get rid of it.

Installation: For asphalt roofs, LC Solar Blockers are typically nailed down with roofing nails (included for asphalt roof applications). For clay tiles, LC Solar Blockers can be wired down, with low cost bailing wire (included for clay tile applications). With your roof dimensions, we design the LC Solar Blockers to fit your particular roof top. We custom cut each piece for a good fit. Our test home took 2 hours to install (76 panels for total coverage, one guy installed the system using roofing nails).
LC Solar Blockers consist of a white reflector on top, and a foam insulator below. These items are not glue laminated, because that would increase the conduction of heat from the reflector to the insulator. Instead, we sew them together with a braided string. The result is a high performing, and cost effective solar blocker.

The white refector (on top) reflects most of the radiation, before it is absorbed and converted into heat. The corrugated design, allows air to flow between the upper and lower surfaces of the reflector. This airgap allows for some heat dissipation to the flowing air. The heat transfer from the upper surface to the lower surface is slow. Any small amount of heat at the lower surface is prevented from transferring to the roof tiles, by the foam insulator. The result is a dramatic 60°-80° reduction in roof tile termperature. This reduction is huge, and makes a big difference in the attic temerature. Keeping the attic temerature down keeps the heat from infiltrating your wood, plaster, insulation and other building materials. It will keep the air conditioner power consumption down. Also, since the AC ducts are usually located in the attic, keeping the attic cool will allow for cooler air to be delivered to each room. AC performance is significantly increased.
